The 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Protection Platforms1 is the first-ever Magic Quadrant for this category and a major milestone for cybersecurity. It reinforces what Dragos has long said:
Protecting industrial infrastructure is more urgent than ever and securing these physical systems is a critical challenge requiring a specialized approach.
And Dragos is a Leader.
Gartner acknowledges some of Dragos’s strengths in the report:
- Deep industrial cybersecurity expertise
- On-premises or cloud solutions tailored for OT
- A collaborative, community-driven approach to intelligence-sharing and best practices
Dragos Strengths: Product, Strategy, and Leadership
Dragos has always been true to our mission, and has purpose built our products for OT and industrial environments. Gartner highlights Dragos’s strengths:
- Product: The Dragos Platform was recognized for multiple advancements, including the addition of new data collection methods such as a lightweight collector and active querying capabilities. The Platform also benefits from continuous threat intelligence updates via Knowledge Packs, ensuring organizations stay ahead of evolving threats. These updates include real-time threat analytics, indicators of compromise (IOCs), and response playbooks, enhancing overall security posture. Dragos demonstrated the top score in threat management.
- Product Strategy: The report noted Dragos’s commitment to expanding its solutions, including enhanced network segmentation policy validation, access path analysis, and the ability to facilitate low-impact deployment with the acquisition of Network Perception.
- Industry Leadership: Dragos is widely recognized as a leading voice in CPS security. The report highlights Dragos’s role in educating the market on emerging threats, shaping industry standards, and actively contributing to regulatory frameworks. Additionally, Dragos plays a key role in fostering intelligence-sharing initiatives that enhance security collaboration across critical sectors.
Our View of Gartner’s Cautions
Gartner evaluates Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) as a broad category, covering a wide range of industries—including medical, smart buildings, transportation, and manufacturing. CPS environments integrate digital and physical processes, meaning that cyber threats in these spaces have real-world operational consequences.
Our Intentional Focus on Industrial Infrastructure
Gartner highlights that others in the industry take a broader approach than Dragos.
This is intentional.
Rather than applying a broad solution to address all of CPS, Dragos focuses on industrial infrastructure cybersecurity, environments that are vast and vastly under-protected. Where much of the cybersecurity spending for enterprises has gone to IT over the past two decades, trillions of dollars in industrial plant equipment and infrastructure are exposed.
Dragos believes these industries deserve a focused solution.
Expanding Our Geographic Focus and Partner Base
Gartner’s observation that Dragos has a relatively smaller reach among vendors into channel and geographies is valid.
We’ve focused on North America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. We have partners with global reach to deliver beyond countries where we host sales personnel, including Japan.
In 2025, Dragos is driving a new “channel first” strategy focused on deepening our best relationships and building new ones to expand our global reach. We’re interested in partners that magnify our resource base to deliver the best support for the entire customer journey across the globe. Want to join? Connect with Us!
Product Gaps – We’re Closing Them
Gartner rightfully recognized us as the leader in threat management. It is what we were built for and identifying and responding to threats is the primary requirement for cybersecurity protection platforms.
But we recognize that the Dragos Platform has areas we can continue to mature. A focus over the last year has been on enhancements to our asset inventory capabilities, including Lightweight Collector, Project File Import, and the addition of active scanning technologies that expand asset coverage, as well as depth of asset profile information we can integrate into our Platform. We’ll continue that focus and momentum on asset inventories in 2025 with support for Chassis Modules, Software Asset Inventory, and other key initiatives.
Dragos also continues to drive a highly differentiated set of capabilities including access path and firewall policy rule analysis to drive segmentation validation and build a more defensible architecture. We’ll expand our differentiation in threat management by integrated Neighborhood Keeper data directly in Platform, among a host of other initiatives on our 2025 roadmap.
Dragos is focused on driving high velocity innovation to close gaps and expand our capabilities to protect our customers. If you want to know more about asset inventory, vulnerability management, threat management and other key use cases, contact us for a discussion or a demo.
A Broader Partnership to Create an Effective CPS Defense–Services and OT Cyber Threat Intelligence
The Magic Quadrant is a technology only report. And while Dragos’s powerful technology is recognized in the Leaders Quadrant, it’s important to note that technology alone doesn’t make organizations successful in securing industrial infrastructure.
What sets Dragos apart is our holistic approach—combining advanced technology with expert practitioners, real-time threat intelligence from the industry’s largest civilian OT cyber threat intelligence team, and specialized services like managed threat hunting, proactive assessments, and OT incident response services. These elements—though not explicitly evaluated in this technology-first report—are essential to achieving comprehensive cybersecurity.
The Dragos Platform was built by OT cybersecurity experts. Dragos understands the complexity and risks of these environments, which operate on a massive scale with unique systems and exacting availability requirements and are not protected by IT cybersecurity. We deliver our award-winning platform backed by comprehensive OT cyber threat intelligence and unrivaled industrial cybersecurity expertise.
Why Our Customers Choose Dragos?
- Purpose-Built for Industrial Security – Protecting critical sectors like oil and gas, power, utilities, and manufacturing.
- Comprehensive Approach – Integrating technology, OT cyber threat intelligence, and key services to build an effective OT cyber defense.
